Jessica is a devoted mom, wife, nurse and children's author- who also leads the creative vision and content development at Little Sunshine Readers. Drawing from her nearly 17-year background as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse, her extensive global travel experience, and her journey through motherhood, Jessica oversees story creation, brand voice, product innovation, and partnerships with illustrators, educators, and the community. Her leadership ensures the brand remains mission-focused, emotionally resonant, educational and socially impactful. She is the author of the debut title Charlotte and Pip’s Italian Adventure, with more books on the horizon.
Jessica currently resides in Jacksonville, Florida with her husband Matt and daughter, Charlotte. Additionally, she also holds a Master of Public Health from California State University-Sacramento and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Andrews University.
Jessica is also a proud member of the Author's Roundtable and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
Little Sunshine Readers was founded in 2024 by Jessica Singer, a longtime Emergency Room Registered Nurse and new mother, navigating the early days of postpartum life. Six months after giving birth to her daughter Charlotte, Jessica began looking for a meaningful way to stay home with her while still pursuing her passions and making an impact.
Before pregnancy, Jessica had traveled extensively around the world, collecting not only memories and cultural experiences, but life lessons she knew she’d one day want to pass on. Her passion for storytelling and adventure, paired with the transformative experience of becoming a mother, inspired her to begin writing children’s books with a focus on social-emotional development, inclusivity, kindness and confidence- values she hoped to instill in her daughter.
It was during the quiet, often chaotic hours of early motherhood—between feedings, nap times, and diaper changes—that Jessica began building the foundation of the business. Many of her first drafts were written late at night or just before dawn, in the rare still moments while Charlotte slept.
With unwavering support, her husband Matt joined the growing vision, stepping in to help with business operations, strategy, and long-term planning. Together, they formed a family-run company with a mission: to inspire children’s love of reading, improve literacy rates, and nurture social-emotional development through inclusive, inspiring and beautifully illustrated stories.
In October 2024, Jessica’s debut title Charlotte and Pip’s Italian Adventure was released, introducing readers to a whimsical and heartwarming journey that blended Jessica’s passion for travel with gentle life lessons. The book’s inspiring message of bravery in face of overwhelming fear quickly gained attention from families and educators alike, sparking the organic growth of a brand that now includes merchandise, literacy-themed accessories, and inspiring decor designed to carry the magic of storytelling beyond the book.
With Book #2 expected to release late Fall/early Winter 2025, Little Sunshine Readers continues to expand its reach and impact—one story at a time. At its heart remains Jessica’s vision: to inspire confident, kind, curious and socially conscious children through the power of storytelling; who will make the world a better place for all.

"This sweet little children’s book tells the story of a curious six-year-old named Charlotte and her stuffed duck Pip as they take a big trip to Rome. It’s Charlotte’s first time on a plane, her first international adventure, and her first big moment of learning how to be brave. The story starts with excitement and wonder as Charlotte prepares for the journey, sees famous Roman landmarks like the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum, and then gets separated from her parents while chasing a duck that looks just like Pip.
What I loved most about this picture book was how much heart it packed into a simple story. The writing feels warm and welcoming. There’s no over-complication, and that’s what works. Kids don’t need a plot twist, they need a moment they can imagine themselves in. The fantastic artwork also really helps children imagine themselves in Rome. Scenes are stunning, and Charlotte and Pip have a Pixar-like quality to them that makes them stand out from the scene. Charlotte is adventurous and impulsive in a way that feels totally real. Her pride when she finds her parents and tells them she was brave? That’s the kind of stuff that sticks with kids. Plus, the language is just right. It’s playful, honest, and filled with joy.
The illustrations are absolutely delightful. Bright colors, lots of movement, and that dreamy, wide-eyed feeling of being in a new place. The scenes of Rome feel alive. I also liked that this book sneaks in a little travel learning without being heavy-handed. A “ciao” here, a Trevi Fountain there, it gives a taste of Italian culture without ever slowing the story down.
Charlotte and Pip’s Italian Adventure is a gem for young readers who love to dream big, travel far, and imagine themselves in brave little shoes. It’s perfect for kids around 4 to 8, especially those getting ready for their own first big adventure or flight. Parents will enjoy reading it aloud, and kids will probably ask for it again the next night."

This is such a great story about a little girl traveling with her family to Rome along with her stuffed animal. When she gets separated from her parents, she is scared and remembers that her parents told her to stay calm and to be brave, which makes this such an easily relatable lesson for children. My 3 year old loves this book and has requested it every night for bedtime since we got it. We can't wait to see what type of adventure Charlotte has next!

What a beautiful and positive story! My family loves traveling, so seeing a young girl travel with her family was so much fun for my young daughter to read about. When the main character faced hardship and uncertainty, she showed bravery and thought positively. That’s what I want for my little girl! I encourage anyone to get their own copy. It makes a great gift, too!
